Volunteer apricot

Stardate 22nd April & 18th June

At the edge of my patio, right in front of my front door there is one of the concrete electricity posts, (although for how long I don’t know as EDF are removing it sometime), and between it and the concrete patio has grown a bush that I’ve tried unsuccessfully to remove over the last 2 years. It has only produced some rather boring leaves, no flowers, no autumn colour, totally boring. I can’t get at it to dig out and by the time it is in leaf, so is everything around it so spraying is out of the question.

I’d resolved this year to deal with it and it must have sensed its imminent demise because this spring it gave me some beautiful scented blossoms; which after a few weeks turned into these.

A couple of months later and I had:-

They tasted divine, I had most of them fresh but I also have a few in alcohol and a lovely large apricot flan in the freezer for when summer is only a past thought.
My next task will be to try and save it when they come to take away the concrete post!

Ha ha that's fab! :) Gald it turned out to be a useful tree rather than an annoyance... can't wait to see it when I get there, although t may well be a bit tired when I get back... :p

How wonderful. My apricot tree, carefully planted, fertilised and watered doesn't give me as much fruit as yours. Maybe I should show it the axe ? :-)

*laughing over here*

Oh Deborah. Only you! That is too funny really!

Just had a note from Mickle saying she had heard from you etc. etc.

I often think of you working your heart out over there. Hope all is better than good and that you are in that state of mind where things don't bother you too much. (I strive for that daily I tell you!)

Deborah - thought power got to it?

What a great suprise. Defend it strongly against the power board contractors.

cuddles and huggles to all your kitty cats, love and huggles to you,

This was cute, and made me laugh.

Now you have to save the tree after producing such an amount of fruit.

Hi Deb, how are you surviving the hot temperatures you are getting over there? Post soon, I miss hearing all about your life down there. Did you ever hear from Debs Lehner after she moved back to the UK (apart from her interview with David)?

Hah, gotta love the productive volunteers (it almost makes you wonder if it read your mind about getting rid of it and decided to make itself useful finally!).
